There was a fire somewhere near the house (I could only smell it, not see it), so I decided to run indoors this morning. 3 mile warmup, then 12 miles at 7:30/mi, then a 2 mile cooldown. This was supposed to be a marathon-paced workout, and it went very well. It feels good to look back at how accomplished I felt when I successfully ran 8 miles in an hour for the first time. It's easy to feel like I'm not progressing when I look at my times from week to week, and even month to month. Year to year seems to be a good time scale for me. On the other hand, running is great whether or not you get better!
